The Persian People

The two stories we read in class tell alot about the Persian people.  In the Manners of Kings it emphisizes their belief in treating others how you want to be treated.  That story also teches a respect for ones posessions.  In the Rubaiyat it shows that they have a "sieze the day" attitude and want to live life to the fullest.  Specifically in XLVIII it tells of how you should see the good in all the bad in the word.  The Persians seem to be people who try to enjoy life and make the best of it.  They try to treat others and their posessions with respect.

The Two Flood Stories

There could be many reasons of why Gilgamesh's flood story and the Bible's flood story is so similar.  I beleive the reason for the similarities is becuase there really was a great flood.  The two stories are so similar that they had to have taken the story from an actual event.  Both Gilgamesh and the Bible told the story of the flood as how they interpreted  it in their culture at the time.  I believe that i flood happened early in the history of the earth and the survivor of the flood passed it down all the way to the time of Gilgamesh and then down to when the bible was written.
